Privacy policy
A comprehensive privacy policy for a site that mostly just wants to measure traffic, answer inquiries, and mind its own business.
This is the long version on purpose. The important part is simple: I collect general analytics to understand site usage and performance, I may receive whatever information you choose to send directly, and I do not sell or share visitor data for advertising.
General analytics only
This site may collect ordinary website analytics such as page views, referral sources, browser and device details, rough location, and performance data so I can understand traffic and keep the site useful.
No sale and no ad sharing
I do not sell personal information, rent visitor lists, or share visitor data with advertisers, data brokers, or social platforms for their own marketing purposes.
Direct contact is voluntary
If you reach out, I may receive the information you choose to include, such as your name, email address, company, website, and project details, so I can respond.
Limited vendor access
Hosting, analytics, security, and form-processing providers may handle limited information on my behalf only as needed to operate, secure, and measure the site.
Plain-English summary
This website is a professional portfolio and lead-generation site, not an ad-tech machine. I want to know whether people visit it, which pages hold attention, where technical issues exist, and whether someone contacts me about a project. That means I collect general analytics and ordinary technical logs, and I may retain the information you intentionally submit in a message. It does not mean I am selling your data, passing your browsing history around to advertisers, or trying to stitch together your identity across the internet.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Jacob Prinkey and this website collect, use, store, and protect information when you visit, browse, or otherwise interact with the site. It is intentionally comprehensive. The short version is simpler: I collect general website analytics and routine technical logs, I may receive the information you voluntarily send through contact channels, and I do not sell or share visitor data for advertising or data-broker purposes.
By accessing or using this site, you acknowledge that some information is collected automatically as part of normal website operation. If you do not agree with the practices described here, please do not use the site or submit information through it.
2. What This Policy Covers
This policy applies to the public-facing website, portfolio pages, service pages, contact experiences, consultation requests, and similar features that link to or reference this Privacy Policy. It also applies to information collected through standard operational tools used to host, secure, and analyze the site.
This policy does not apply to third-party websites, booking tools, payment processors, social networks, or other services that may be linked from this site or that you access separately. Those third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
3. Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the site, certain information may be collected automatically by the hosting environment, analytics tools, security tools, and ordinary web infrastructure. Depending on configuration and your browser settings, that information may include technical identifiers, network and device data, usage activity, and diagnostic signals.
The purpose of this automatic collection is practical rather than intrusive. It helps me understand whether pages are being viewed, which content is useful, whether the site is loading properly, where technical issues exist, and whether the site is being abused by bots or malicious traffic.
- -IP address or a shortened, masked, or approximate version of it, depending on tool configuration
- -Browser type, browser version, device type, operating system, language, and general technical environment
- -Referring page or campaign source, pages visited, timestamps, session flow, and approximate engagement metrics
- -Approximate geographic information derived from IP address, such as city, region, or country
- -Performance data such as page speed, uptime, error logs, and failed requests
- -Security signals such as request headers, bot indicators, rate-limiting events, and abuse-prevention logs
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
This site may use cookies, local storage, session storage, pixels, log files, or similar technologies for core site functionality, security, and general analytics. In plain English, that means the site may remember technical state, measure visits, and evaluate performance over time.
I do not use the site to build advertising audiences across other websites, and I do not intentionally deploy third-party advertising trackers for cross-context behavioral advertising. If browser tools block cookies or similar storage, some analytics or convenience features may not function exactly as intended, but the public portions of the site should still generally remain accessible.
- -Essential or operational technologies used to deliver, secure, or troubleshoot the site
- -Analytics technologies used to understand aggregate traffic, engagement patterns, and content performance
- -Preference or session technologies that may be added in the future to improve site usability
5. Information You Voluntarily Provide
If you choose to contact me, request a consultation, respond to a form, or otherwise send information directly, I may collect whatever information you decide to provide. That may include your name, email address, company name, website, project details, business goals, budget context, timeline, and the contents of any message or attachment you send.
Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is truly necessary for the conversation. This site is not intended to collect Social Security numbers, financial account credentials, government-issued identifiers, health information, or other highly sensitive categories of data through ordinary public contact channels.
6. How Information Is Used
Information collected through the site is used to operate the website, understand audience behavior at a general level, respond to inquiries, evaluate whether a project is a fit, improve site performance, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations.
I may also use aggregated, statistical, or de-identified information to understand broader traffic trends or to improve messaging, structure, and content. That kind of information does not identify you personally in a reasonable, direct way.
- -Operate, secure, maintain, and debug the website
- -Measure traffic, understand page performance, and improve usability
- -Respond to messages, follow up on requests, and manage potential client conversations
- -Prevent abuse, spam, fraud, scraping, or other misuse of the site
- -Maintain basic business records and comply with applicable law
7. Legal Bases for Processing
If privacy laws in your jurisdiction require a legal basis for processing personal information, the bases I generally rely on are legitimate interests, consent where required, steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and compliance with legal obligations. Legitimate interests include operating a professional website, understanding whether content is useful, preventing abuse, and responding to business inquiries.
Where consent is required for a particular processing activity, I will rely on that consent. Where you voluntarily contact me about services, I may process that information to evaluate and respond to your request.
8. No Sale, No Rental, No Advertising-Based Sharing
I do not sell personal information. I do not rent visitor lists. I do not disclose personal information to advertisers, data brokers, or social media platforms so they can market to you or profile you across unrelated services.
I also do not use visitor data from this site to create cross-site advertising audiences or to support targeted advertising networks. If a vendor processes information on my behalf for hosting, analytics, security, or communications, that processing is limited to the purpose of providing that service to me rather than giving that vendor free rein to use the information for its own unrelated marketing.
9. Service Providers and Third Parties
To run the site, I may rely on service providers that support hosting, content delivery, analytics, form handling, spam filtering, infrastructure monitoring, and security. Those providers may process limited information as necessary to perform their services. For example, a hosting provider may process server requests, or an analytics provider may process page-view and device data to generate traffic reports.
In addition, this site may link to third-party sites or services such as LinkedIn, scheduling tools, or other external platforms. Once you leave this site or interact with a third-party service, that party's privacy practices control. I am not responsible for the privacy or security practices of third parties that I do not own or control.
10. Data Retention
I retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including site analytics, operational monitoring, security, recordkeeping, and communications. Retention may vary depending on the type of information, the settings of the services used to operate the site, and whether the information is needed for an ongoing conversation, dispute, or legal obligation.
In practice, analytics and log data may remain available for a period of time so trends, performance changes, and security events can be reviewed. Messages and business inquiry records may be kept for follow-up, reference, and ordinary business administration, and may later be archived or deleted when no longer needed.
11. Security
I use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. That said, no website, network, storage environment, or electronic transmission method can be guaranteed to be fully secure.
Because public internet communications always involve some risk, please avoid sending confidential, proprietary, or highly sensitive personal information through casual website forms or unsecured email unless there is a clear reason to do so and appropriate safeguards are in place.
12. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to personal information, request correction, request deletion, object to certain processing, withdraw consent where consent is the basis of processing, or request information about how personal information is handled. You may also have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising applicable privacy rights.
You can also limit certain collection yourself by adjusting browser settings, clearing cookies, using privacy controls, or choosing not to submit information through forms. Please note that some automatic server-side logging is a standard part of operating a website and may continue to occur even when client-side cookies are disabled.
- -Request access to or deletion of personal information you previously provided
- -Ask for correction of inaccurate information in an inquiry or communication record
- -Ask that I stop using your contact details for follow-up communications
- -Use browser controls or extensions to limit cookies and similar technologies
13. U.S. State Privacy Disclosures
If you are a resident of a U.S. state with privacy-specific disclosure rights, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, or similar regimes, this policy is intended to provide the core disclosures generally required by those laws. The categories of personal information collected may include identifiers, internet or electronic network activity information, approximate geolocation data, and information you voluntarily provide in communications.
I do not sell personal information and I do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. I also do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you for advertising or profiling purposes. If you believe a state-specific right applies to you, you may submit a request using the contact methods available on this site.
14. Do Not Track and Similar Signals
Some browsers offer a Do Not Track setting or similar privacy signals. At this time, this site does not guarantee a universal response to every browser-based signal unless a particular signal is legally required and technically supported by the tools in use. Because I do not sell or share data for behavioral advertising, I am not using this site as part of an advertising exchange or retargeting network.
If recognized privacy-control frameworks become relevant to the tools used on this site, I may update site behavior and this policy accordingly.
15. Children's Privacy
This site is intended for adults, businesses, and professional contacts. It is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this site.
If I learn that personal information from a child has been submitted in a way that should not have occurred, I will take reasonable steps to delete that information as appropriate.
16. International Visitors
If you access this site from outside the country where the site or its service providers are based, your information may be processed in jurisdictions that may have different data-protection rules than your own. By using the site, you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in those locations as needed to operate the site and related services.
Regardless of where processing occurs, I will handle information in line with the commitments described in this policy.
17. Changes to This Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the site, tools, business practices, or legal requirements. When I do, I will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date shown above.
If the changes are material, I may provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the site after an updated policy becomes effective will mean the updated policy applies going forward.
18. Contact and Privacy Requests
If you have a privacy question, want to request deletion or correction of information you submitted directly, or need clarification about how this site handles data, please use the contact options available on this site. The most direct route is the contact section on the homepage.
When you send a privacy request, please include enough detail for me to understand what information you are asking about and how I can reasonably verify the request. I may need to follow up before completing a request, especially if doing so is necessary to protect someone else's information or comply with applicable law.
Want the shorter version?
I collect general analytics, I keep ordinary logs, I use submitted contact details to reply, and I do not sell or share your data for advertising.
